FAQ’s about Good Shepherd

FAQ’s about Good Shepherd

  • Will I be welcome here?
    • All are welcome here, wherever you are on this journey of life and faith. Our differences are a blessing. Jesus loved you enough to give his life for you and that makes you “OK” in our book!
  • Are children welcome in worship?
    • Absolutely! We love to have children in worship. We have a weekly children’s message before the sermon for those youth that feel comfortable coming forward. (If your child is shy, parents/grandparents are welcome to come forward with the child.)  Also, we have a cozy play area for small children just outside the sanctuary; an adult must accompany the child(ren).
  • Where do I park?
    • We have ample parking in our lot, with multiple handicap spaces. The parking lot may be accessed from Stroop Rd. or Kenosha Blvd.
  • How should I dress?
    • You may dress in whatever way makes you comfortable. Some folks are more comfortable in business suits while others are more comfortable in jeans and t-shirts.
  • What about Communion?
    • How often do you serve communion?
      • We offer communion weekly at both the Saturday and Sunday services.
    • Do I need to be a member to receive communion?
      • No, we believe that all are welcome at God’s table. If you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is your Savior and Redeemer and would like to receive Holy Communion, you will be invited to come forward to receive the elements (bread and wine). We let you make that judgment. If you would like to come and receive a blessing, you may do that also.
  • How accessible are you?
    • Our main floor and sanctuary are completely wheelchair/walker accessible. Our Sanctuary has a pew removed near the middle so that people may sit with their wheelchairs or walkers readily available. Wheelchair accessible restrooms are just beside the sanctuary. If you are unable to come to the altar to receive communion, it can be brought to you.
    • Large print bulletins available at all services. The words and music for each worship service are also displayed on large screens at the front of the sanctuary.
    • Our sound system is designed to provide clear sound throughout the sanctuary.
  • What version of the Bible do you use.
    • Our readings during worship are from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. Our members use multiple versions, based on personal preference.
