The Ministry Site Profile (MSP) is the essential first step in calling a pastor. Pastoral candidates will use our MSP to get their first glimpse of our congregation’s characteristics, ministry priorities, and purpose, as well as our pastoral needs. This clear, concise document is a pastoral candidate’s initial invitation to join with us in ministry.

Our Ministry Site Profile is founded on the shared input of Good Shepherd members. It is critically important that the MSP team hears from you. Please share your thoughts and insights at one of two meetings: Thursday, January 30 at 10-11:30 AM or Sunday, February 2 at 9:00-10:30 AM (cookies / doughnuts provided). Many homebound members are being contacted individually.

Please make plans now to attend one of these important meetings. The list of topics and questions will be available before the meetings. If you have questions, please contact Judy Treadway at 4jtread@gmail.com

Good Shepherd began sharing communion with folks who are unable to join us at the TABLE. Each week the gifts of bread and wine are taken by a team of dedicated volunteers. Currently serving on teams supporting this loving ministry are:

  • Roger & Pam Bauser
  • Don & Paula Bennett
  • Mary Pierce
  • Ed Thieman
  • Jeff & Judy Treadway
  • Wayne & Michele Weyhrauch

If you or someone you know would like to receive communion, please contact the church office 937-298-0136.

Do you need some time away from the busyness of life? On the 4th Wednesday of the month come join us at GSLC to linger with the Lord followed by a time of prayer.   This is a wonderful time to come and spend time in prayer, both corporately and individually. No one is asked to pray aloud themselves. You can pray in your pew or you can come to the altar railing, light a candle, and pray there if you’d like.
The service starts at 7:00 and runs for 30-40 minutes. Come join us Wednesday, February 26 at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. All are welcome to join us!

The Countdown to the Super Bowl is underway and we are down to the final 4 teams. That means, we are one step closer to the Super Bowl and our “SOUPER” BOWL. Will it be the Bills or the Chiefs (again) for the AFC? Will it be the upstart Commanders or the Eagles for the NFC?  Souper Bowl is our opportunity to collect non-perishable food items for the local food pantries in Kettering. What is your favorite part of the Super Bowl – the NFC team, the AFC team, or the commercials?   Please bring in items and place them in the marked bins of your choice, “AFC”, “NFC”, or “Commercials,“  in the narthex.  We will tally the items and let you know Good Shepherd’s choice.   Items are being collected each week until Super Bowl Sunday, February 9After two weeks our food contributions are as follows:
NFC – 76,    AFC – 83,    Commercials  – 76    –    for a grand total of 235 food items. Thanks for your help supplying the food pantries. Hope your favorite team is still in the hunt.

Our DECEMBER food donations were delivered to local food pantries on January 8 – totaling 225 food items.

Thanks to Denny Irby for helping with these deliveries.
Thank you for remembering the families who are served by the food pantries in our community. As you make your personal food purchases, consider adding a few items for these families.  It will be a wonderful way to help those around us.  It is very helpful to avoid donations of food in glass containers so that nothing can be broken.   If you would like to volunteer on a Thursday at the Feeding Friends Pantry on Bigger Road near the former Victoria’s Secret Building, go to https://signup.com/go/FjrnKG

Our Property and Facilities Commission will have a recurring “Helping Hands Service Initiative” to help maintain and keep our church grounds and facilities in optimal shape as we strive to make it an inviting place.  We will have a monthly event to work on timely projects and seasonal tasks.  Additionally, if you have ideas or recommendations on areas to improve, please send them to the Office Manager at office@goodshepherdkettering.com or to one of the commissioners.  Thank you.

Faithfulness by Denise Rector
We began with The Book of Ruth learning about faithfulness from the lives of Ruth and Naomi. If you can’t join us, use the study for your own devotions. Read the Book of Ruth and marvel at what our faithful God can do.
