A Letter of Call has been extended to Pastor Mallory Morris, inviting her to join the ministry of Good Shepherd as our Pastor. The target start date for Pastor Mallory is November 17.

Brief Biography

Pastor Mallory’s journey to ministry has been anything but conventional. Then again, when is anything conventional when God is involved? Originally from South Carolina, Mallory was raised Baptist and moved to Texas to complete her M.Div at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating from seminary in 2008, she would go on to work in insurance for ten years as a claims adjuster. During that decade she took up distance running, met and married her husband Robert, and realized she was actually more Lutheran than Baptist. Pr. Mallory was ordained in 2023 at her home congregation of Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills, TX. She served as the pastor of First United Lutheran Church of Dallas, TX from 2023 until 2024. In the interim, she has served as pulpit supply for local congregations while also launching a blog called The Picture Pulpit!

Pastor Mallory and her husband met in 2012 through a young adult bible study at the church they both attended at the time. After striking up a friendship, they realized it was worth exploring the possibility of something more, and they have been married since November of 2017. While he was born in California, Robert’s family relocated to San Antonio, TX when he was seven, and he’s considered himself a native Texan ever since. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 with a degree in aerospace engineering, and has spent the majority of his career working in the airline industry. Together, they have a sweet, but skittish husky-mix named Jesse and a mostly-sweet cat named Luther.

When she’s not involved in ministry, Pastor Mallory enjoys spending time with Robert and her pets. She also enjoys a variety of hobbies that range from creative to athletic to nerdy.
