40 Ways to Love God and Your Neighbor
In less than a week, you will begin your journey through the 40 days of Lent. Some of you will fast. Some of you will spend a little more time than usual in prayer and contemplation. But will you allow yourself to truly live what you believe?
How about with a Lenten checklist? — 40 ways you can let yourself be challenged to love God and to love that which God has created. You can keep one on your refrigerator to remind yourself to be who you say you are.  You can find a copy on the table in the Narthex or click here.

On Palm Sunday, April 10, we will be having one service at 10:30 am. It is a time for all of us to come together as one Body of Christ by celebrating Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.

Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Over 40 Crafters and Vendors will be set up on the GSLC Campus! Some of our vendors are local favorites and many creative and unique products will be featured! Come out and shop, buy a raffle ticket, and enjoy lunch – this is a fun event with something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you!
Craft Show Help Needed  Good Shepherd will be having a Spring Craft Show with local vendors. This is a BIG event! We need your help to run the show. To volunteer please contact Rich Kellstrom or sign up in the Narthex.

Food Pantry News
Thank you to all who faithfully continue to support the food pantry with your donations. On March 7, we delivered 350 food items to help support the clients at 4 local food pantries. Next food pantry Sunday is April 3.
The primary food pantry donation bin is in the narthex; so, if you come to church on Sunday morning you can bring your donations and place them there.  During the week, you can still place your donations inside the fellowship hall doors. Monetary donations may still be made by placing a check (payable to Good Shepherd with “food pantry” in the memo line) in the offering or mailing it to the church office. The food pantry has told us that the following items are among the most needed and useful for donation: noodles and pastas, cereals, canned fruits and vegetables, kids’ canned pastas, boxed “helper” meals, canned meats, chicken and tuna, instant potatoes, canned soups (Campbell’s Chunky soups or Progresso soups – if on sale – are especially useful because they can be stretched by adding pasta and making a casserole meal).

Easter Lilies
For our Easter season, we are doing “in Lieu of Lilies” again this year. You will be able to make a donation in any amount to honor or remember friends and loved ones.  The monies collected will benefit Matthew 25 Ministries.  Each week we will place a paper lily on the cross in the Narthex with the name of those you wish to remember this Easter Season. An order form will be available in the Narthex.   As members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we believe that God is calling us into the world – together. And with generous, loving hands, we can make a difference. Click here to fill out the form:  Easter Lilies

Adult Crossings: God’s Journey with Us!
Facilitator:  Roger Bauser
Time: 8:50 am – 9:50 am
Place: Comfort of your own home – connect and discuss with others online!
Life is a journey – one we measure in passages of time, accomplishments, transitions in education and vocation, and relationships. In all circumstances, God journeys with us! The Bible tells us so! The Word of God is filled with powerful stories of God’s presence in the lives of individuals and communities. God keeps the promise to be present in the Bible. God keeps the promise to be present in our lives.
The Adult Crossings explores the Bible through eight core stories:  God’s call; the Exodus; Sinai covenant; Promised land; Davidic rule; Jesus’ life; the Cross; Resurrection life. These stories will carry us through Lent and into the Easter season. Use this time to grow your relationship with God as God keeps the promise to journey with you!
The format is online to provide a safe, healthy way to connect. The sessions are designed to allow folks to come to one or all of the conversations.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2022   This is a change from our fourth Wednesday.
So much to ponder!. A familiar theme:  THE KINGDOM of GOD!
In January we discovered in the phrase “kingdom of God” Jesus is referring to an ACTION not a place. In February we were invited to be the kingdom of God along with the tax collectors and prostitutes. Now Dr. Mark Allan Powell invites us to ponder what John teaches about the kingdom of God for eternal life.
THE KINGDOM of GOD is a big deal to Jesus. We are part of God’s Kingdom – now and for eternity. The KINGDOM OF GOD is a big deal for us, too. Come find out more about what Jesus teaches us in the Gospel of John. This theme continues through April 2022.
Mark your calendars NOW for this wonderful study in March. This is a gathering of women who are curious. If you are curious about the kingdom of God, come. All are welcome.
Topic: The Kingdom of God: Eternal Life in the Gospel of John (March/April 2022 issue of Gather)
Leader: Pam Bauser
Time: 10:30 am
Time: 7:30 pm (This month we will start immediately after the midweek Lenten services – probably around 7:45 pm)
The study is available in the March/April 2022 issue of Gather for Faith and Action, the magazine from the Women of the ELCA.  If you need a copy of the study, please contact Pam Bauser at psbauser@me.com or 937-602-8385.

The winter/spring session is underway. We will continue to offer hybrid class sessions, allowing folks to join us in person or online.  Those coming to GSLC will meet in the Lounge.  The spring sessions will conclude on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Stewardship Snippets – March 13, 2022
Psalm 27:1 –The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
As the news media, ad execs, and politicians know well, fear is the great motivator of people, but a negative one. Trusting in God’s power and providence, steward/disciples tap into a better source of motivation.

Offerings for last week: $2,820.00
The amount reported applies to contributions used towards the annual ministry plan which requires contributions of $5,243 every week.

Don’t forget to send in your weekly tithe/offering to the church at 901 East Stroop Rd, Kettering, OH 45429 or go to our online Electronic Giving:

It’s easy to do. Go to our website for Youth Donations, Good Shepherd Youth Donations, scroll down and you will see a little graphic labeled amazonsmile.  Click on that and follow the directions. Once you’ve done that, instead of going to amazon.com to make an online purchase, go to smile.amazon.com and for every purchase you make, we will get 0.5% of that price donated to us. It’s still Amazon, with all the features of the normal site, we just get a small cut. Over time those 0.5% donations add up. Please consider supporting us in this way. The proceeds go to help with youth events. If you have any questions, please contact Don Bennett.

GSLC Lutheran Youth Corps (LYC)
Gift Card Program Did you know there is a way that you can financially support Good Shepherd at no cost to you?  Through the LYC, you can order gift cards from a variety of merchants and restaurants at face value and a portion of each purchase is donated to the church to support youth programs and the First Lutheran Breakfasts. Although the percentage donated to the church may seem small, a few percent of our collective purchases can add up to a significant donation to Good Shepherd over time. Order forms are available in the Narthex.  Orders placed on the weekend are normally available for pick up the following week, with the exception of some holiday periods and weeks where we do not reach the minimum threshold for placing an order.  Please contact Don Bennett if you have any questions.  What a great way to be faithful stewards of our resources!
