OUTREACH AND SERVICES
NO Amazing Grace Day Camp in 2022
This year GSLC will not be hosting an Amazing Grace Day Camp (AGDC). After LOMO could not provide counselors, we have run out of time to find volunteers and learn the curriculum and properly invite the community to participate. Thank you to everyone who offered to volunteer and we look forward to hosting camp again next year.- Pr. Jamie Vannoy & Don Bennett
Jeremiah’s Letter – July 17
The mission of Jeremiah’s Letter is to bring congregations together from the greater Dayton community so that together they can enhance the daily lives of individuals and families of the inner-city who find themselves in need. To help support the works of Jeremiah’s Letter, Good Shepherd will be collecting bath and bedroom linens, personal hygiene products, canned foods and cleaning/laundry supplies.
Food Pantry News
Your generous donations for the month totaled 350 items Thanks for your continued faithfulness to this important ministry. Food was delivered on Monday, June 6, and helps support four local food pantries’ efforts to provide food for families in these difficult economic times. The primary food pantry donation bin is in the narthex; so, if you come to church on Sunday morning you can bring your donations and place them there. During the week, you can still place your donations inside the fellowship hall doors. Monetary donations may still be made by placing a check (payable to Good Shepherd with “food pantry” in the memo line) in the offering or mailing it to the church office. The food pantry has told us that the following items are among the most needed and useful for donation: noodles and pastas, cereals, canned fruits and vegetables, kids’ canned pastas, boxed “helper” meals, canned meats, chicken and tuna, instant potatoes, canned soups (Campbell’s Chunky soups or Progresso soups – if on sale – are especially useful because they can be stretched by adding pasta and making a casserole meal).
Planned Gift Workshop
Have you considered what will happen to your assets after your death? Do you have a great love for your church or another charity and want to help create a sustainable mission for them long into the future? Sadly, 70% of estate plans fail to pay out the way the donor intended. There are so many complexities to what will be probated and how much money it costs to probate and what assets are best for family and loved ones.
Creating a comprehensive charitable estate plan means ensuring you are providing for family and loved ones while leaving a planned gift to a charity or faith community you care about. It can get complicated and overwhelming.
To support those in our community interested in learning more about the process of creating a comprehensive charitable estate plan, we are hosting a free Planned Giving Workshop @ Good Shepherd on Monday, July 25 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm or later that evening at Peace Lutheran Church (Beavercreek) from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
During this workshop you will learn about the realities of what it means to say, “I am leaving you in my Will.” You will learn which assets are probated and which are not. You will learn what assets have tax and other implications for family and loved one and how to leave the best assets to the best beneficiaries in the best ways.
Mitzie Schafer from GSB Consulting and Karl Bierman from ELCA Planned Giving will be with us to help teach us and answer questions.
To RSVP for Good Shepherd please contact the Church Office at (937) 298-0136 or email@example.com.

Luke 10:27 – Jesus answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” We are free people of God, and Jesus teaches us the highest purposes of our freedom: To love God with all our being, and to love our neighbor through acts of kindness and mercy

CHURCH PROGRAM DONATIONS
It’s easy to do. Go to our website for Youth Donations, Good Shepherd Youth Donations, scroll down and you will see a little graphic labeled amazonsmile. Click on that and follow the directions. Once you’ve done that, instead of going to amazon.com to make an online purchase, go to smile.amazon.com and for every purchase you make, we will get 0.5% of that price donated to us. It’s still Amazon, with all the features of the normal site, we just get a small cut. Over time those 0.5% donations add up. Please consider supporting us in this way. The proceeds go to help with youth events. If you have any questions, please contact Don Bennett.
GSLC Lutheran Youth Corps (LYC)
Gift Card Program Did you know there is a way that you can financially support Good Shepherd at no cost to you? Through the LYC, you can order gift cards from a variety of merchants and restaurants at face value and a portion of each purchase is donated to the church to support youth programs and the First Lutheran Breakfasts. Although the percentage donated to the church may seem small, a few percent of our collective purchases can add up to a significant donation to Good Shepherd over time. Order forms are available in the Narthex. Orders placed on the weekend are normally available for pick up the following week, with the exception of some holiday periods and weeks where we do not reach the minimum threshold for placing an order. Please contact Don Bennett if you have any questions. What a great way to be faithful stewards of our resources! Click here to fill out the form: Gift Card Order Form
