THANK YOU from the SUMMER CONNECTIONS team
My sincere thanks to the volunteers and participants who made Summer Connections possible over the past four weeks. This was something new – a summer intergenerational gathering time with the specific intention of developing connections with God and each other. Leaders from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church of Our Savior worked together for months to create an experience that included a community meal (with lots of dietary accommodations), activities/stations to explore and make connections, and a time of Celebration. What a wonderful experience!
Here are some numbers:
102 different people participated in Summer Connections over 4 weeks.
Of those, 53 were volunteers who shared their gifts, time, and energy to make Summer Connections happen.
This means that 49 of the participants were people who came to connect – some from Good Shepherd, some from Lutheran Church of Our Savior, some from Mighty Fortress Lutheran, some from Harmony Creek UCC, some from other congregations, some unconnected with any congregation.
Again, thank you to everyone!
Sincerely,
the Summer Connections planning team: Judy Treadway, Julie Anstaett, Karin Linch, Michele Oaks, Pastor Mallory Morris, Pastor Richard Freudenberger

OUTREACH AND SERVICES
FOOD PANTRY NEWS
On July 6, our June food donations were delivered to 4 local food pantries – totaling 225 food items. In addition in this quarter of April-June $937 in individual cash donations has been designated for the food pantries.Thank you for faithfully remembering the families who are served by the food pantries in our community. As you do your personal food shopping, consider adding a few items for these families. It will be a wonderful way to help those around us. It is very helpful to avoid donations of food in glass containers so that nothing can be broken. You can bring your donations to church any time.
If you would like to volunteer on a Thursday at the Feeding Friends Pantry on Bigger Road near the former Victoria’s Secret Building, go here: https://signup.com/group/5895388480124
The Feeding Friends pantry consistently serves over 125 families each week..
MATTHEW 25 MINISTRIES
483 pill bottles were dropped off last week to this important ministry center in Cincinnati. Donated goods are sorted and processed in the facility and then redistributed to the poorest of the poor and disaster victims throughout the United States and to more than 40 countries around the world. Please clean pill bottles with “Goo Gone” to get the glue residue off. Then wash them inside and out with HOT water. After they are dry, be sure to replace the lids. (**If they still have sticky outsides and dusty insides, I throw them away because Matthew 25 will not accept them.) Please, place them in the tub in the narthex. They will be sorted and bagged for next time. Thank you for your donations!
LIFELONG LEARNING
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY- SUMMER 2026
Pastor Sara Olson-Smith brings our summer study I AM WORTHY! to a close inviting us into community. This study moves from our uniqueness as a child of God (June) through our many identities in God’s image (July) to our interconnectedness in the community of God’s creation. We will explore God’s Word that emphasizes our interdependence. We need one another. We are one body with many parts. In a culture that stresses being independent, come lean into the blessings of being connected.
We meet:
Tuesday evening August 11th at 7:30 pm using Zoom.
Wednesday morning August 12th at 10:30 am in the GSLC Fellowship Lounge. In person OR on Zoom.
The resources for session two are available at www.gathermagazine.org. Copies available on the counter in the Narthex.
