MATTHEW 25 MINISTRIES UPDATE

704 pill bottles were dropped off this week to this important ministry center in Cincinnati. Donated goods are sorted and processed in the facility and then redistributed to the poorest of the poor and disaster victims throughout the United States and to more than 40 countries around the world. Please clean pill bottles with “Goo Gone” to get the glue residue off. Then wash them inside and out with HOT water. **IMPORTANT: Be sure to wash the inside. Frequently, the bottles still have dust residue from the pills and those bottles can’t be used. After they are dry, be sure to replace the lids. Place them in the tub in the narthex. They will be sorted and bagged for next time. Thank you for your donations!

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY- SPRING 2026

Spring Women’s Bible Study – GOD’S NAME, GOD’S PROMISE
Session 1 – BREAD, LIGHT, & VINE: Abiding with us, written by Rev. Hannah Hawkinson

This month’s Women’s Bible Study will explore how God, the great “I AM,” provides us with what we need, nurtures our lives, and sustains us every day. The Bible study will begin in Exodus with the story of Moses at the Burning Bush and then progress to explore three of Jesus’s “I AM” statements in the book of John: “I am the bread of life,” “I am the true vine,” and “I am the light of the world.”
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Kettering hosts its monthly Women’s Bible study using Gather Magazine as the resource. Gather Magazine is a publication of the Women of the ELCA that is available at www.gathermagazine.org  The study is offered the second week of each month on Tuesday evenings through Zoom, and also Wednesday mornings in person as well as via Zoom. Paper copies of this month’s Bible study are available in Good Shepherd’s gathering space on the counter. Each Bible study discussion encourages the sharing of stories, insights and perspectives. No special knowledge of the Bible is needed. All women are welcome.

2026 MINISTRY PLAN UPDATE

When we presented the Ministry Plan in September, the Plan was based on assumptions regarding the timing of hiring a Senior Pastor.   We stated the plan would need to be updated following the actual hiring of the Pastor and detailed Call information.    All the required information is now available and the Ministry Plan is therefore updated to match the call letter and revised insurance and pension expected payments.    The result is a $4,000 reduction in the expense plan, the driver is lower health insurance cost with Pastor Mallory’s insurance covered by her husband’s insurance plan.     Copies of the revised Ministry Plan summary is now available in the Narthex.

Hand Sanitizer in pews: Small bottles of hand sanitizer are now available in the pews for you to use. The bottles are located near the center aisle.

The 2026 Altar Flower Calendar is posted in the Narthex near the serving area. You are encouraged to sign up now to select your favorite date. Flowers can be given in HONOR of a person or event or in MEMORY of a person or special occasion. When you choose to donate Altar Flowers, you are welcome to take them home after the Sunday service. Flowers that remain are made into bouquets and distributed to members of the congregation. They do bring great cheer and a loving connection to our GSLC family to someone who is hospitalized, ill or unable to worship with us. Altar Flowers are $45.00.
Consider adding your gifts to this important worship ministry. Donate flowers. Offer to become a Flower Delivery person.
There will be no altar flowers during the season of Lent
